Summer Field Days in Nebraska: Enhancing Weed Management and Nutrient Stewardship


Nebraska Extension is hosting summer field days across the state, offering valuable insights into weed management and nutrient stewardship. Take advantage of these upcoming regional events to expand your knowledge and improve agricultural practices.

Weed Management Field Day:

Date: Wednesday, June 28, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Location: South Central Ag Lab, near Clay Center

Highlights: On-site demonstrations of new technologies and herbicides for weed control in corn, soybean, and sorghum. Two tours featuring four demonstration trials each, covering topics such as residual herbicide interactions, weed suppression with interseeding small grains, and herbicide programs for XtendFlex soybean.

4Rs Nutrient Stewardship Field Day:

Date: Thursday, July 6, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm

Location: August N. Christenson Research and Education Building, Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension, and Education Center near Ithaca

Highlights: Learn about 4Rs strategies (right source, right rate, right time, right place) for improved crop yield, profitability, and environmental protection. Topics include nitrogen recommendation tools, optimizing phosphorus fertilizer use, potassium fertilizer recommendations, sensor-based fertigation for nitrogen management, and hands-on nutrient management demonstrations in the field.
