NCTA Vet Techs Spread their Wings
Nebraska Ag Connection - 03/17/2023

The Veterinary Technology students to graduate in May embarked on their eight-week internship experience after completing their difficult exit exams last week.

“Going out to internships will be a huge step in their careers, and many of them have made the decision to step outside of their comfort zones to embark on some awesome experiences. I am very proud of them.” shared Noel Ochoa, faculty lecturer.

Several students share their sentiments and plans:

“This past week has been huge for me. I passed all 12 of my exit exams at school! I am so proud of how far I have come in the past three years. I have met some amazing people I will cherish for the rest of my life. I start my 8-week internship/new job at Loving Family Animal Hospital in Aurora, Colo., tomorrow. I’m super excited for this opportunity. Next stop—GRADUATING—then on to the VTNE! I will forever and always be an Aggie at heart!” noted Shelby Kofler of McCook.

“Curtis has given me so much, but the lifelong friends are by far the best. For everyone wondering, I passed all twelve of my exit exams and will start my internship on Monday morning at Riverside Animal Hospital in Kearney! Thanks to my favorite people for taking this vet tech program head-on with me!” said Saige Johnson of Stapleton.

“Monday through Thursday this past week, I took my 12 exit exams at NCTA, and I passed!! It was the most stressful week, but all my hard work, friends, and family behind my back made it worth it. I am going to miss everyone in Curtis. I am so thankful for all of the lifelong friends that I have made, and I hope we can all keep in touch. I am going to miss you all so much. Thank you all for always keeping me motivated and helping me when I was struggling with a class. I appreciate you all more than you know. I am officially done with classes at NCTA, and I will start my internship in three weeks after I do two different nationals for the shotgun sports team! In May, I will graduate with my veterinary technician option and then take my VTNE,” said Emily Miller of Norton, Kan.

“Such a bittersweet moment, taking exit exams. My time here at NCTA has been amazing. My friends have kept me motivated at school and supported me on the Ranch Horse team. I’m so excited for my internship in Colby, Kan.,” said Emma Hollenback of Ewing.
