Nebraska Extension is leading the charge in merging traditional ranching with modern technology. They are organizing a roundtable discussion in Kimball, Nebraska, aimed at helping ranchers navigate the myriad of technological tools available today.
This event will gather area producers and researchers to share insights on the effective application of technology in ranch management.
Aaron Berger, an educator with Nebraska Extension, emphasizes the importance of evaluating the real-world benefits of these technologies.
"We're looking to dissect the efficiency and management enhancements claimed by various technologies, with input from those who've experienced them firsthand," Berger explains.
The discussion will cover several cutting-edge technologies, including the use of drones for pasture and cattle monitoring, remote water monitoring systems, the effectiveness of calming pheromone treatments for cattle, and the practicalities of virtual fencing.
Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of each technology's costs, benefits, and regulatory considerations.
This engaging session is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the 4-H Building in Kimball, Nebraska. With no admission fee and no need for registration, this event promises valuable insights for anyone interested in the intersection of technology and ranching.
