The Nebraska Corn Board is taking a moment to honor the hardworking individuals in the agriculture industry this National Ag Day. With agriculture being the backbone of Nebraska, where over 90% of the state is dedicated to farming and ranching, the contributions of these individuals are immense.
Nebraska proudly stands among the top in the nation for its agricultural outputs, including white corn, irrigated lands, livestock, and ethanol production.
In 2023, Nebraska's farmers reached a remarkable milestone, producing more than 1.7 billion bushels of corn and securing the third rank in the U.S. for corn production.
This achievement speaks volumes about their dedication, hard work, and resilience, especially when facing challenging weather and climate conditions.
Kelly Brunkhorst, the executive director of the Nebraska Corn Board, emphasizes the importance of supporting the agricultural sector.
-The board actively funds and partners in programs aimed at research, global market expansion, and industry promotion. These initiatives are designed to secure a sustainable and innovative future for agriculture.
National Ag Day, celebrated on March 19, is a tribute to all facets of the agricultural industry. From agronomists to engineers, and economists to scientists, the Nebraska Corn Board extends its gratitude towards everyone contributing to the agricultural industry's bright future.
