Applications are now open for the 21st annual Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium, which will take place from November 21–23, 2025, at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s East Campus. This educational event offers high school students a chance to explore careers in the beef industry while developing valuable leadership skills.
Since it began in 2004, the symposium has hosted over 800 students from across the U.S., including Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. The program introduces participants to real-world topics and career paths related to the beef industry, providing them with early exposure to agriculture-focused opportunities.
Throughout the symposium, students will hear from university experts and industry professionals, gaining insight into every stage of the beef supply chain — from pasture to plate. A highlight of the event includes working in teams alongside a professional chef to create an original beef dish and marketing plan. This hands-on experience allows students to combine practical knowledge with creativity.
The symposium is open to high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Selected students will pay a $75 registration fee, which includes hotel accommodation, meals, and all necessary materials. In addition to learning opportunities, participants will have the chance to earn scholarships from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
The Nebraska Youth Beef Leadership Symposium is an excellent platform for students who are interested in agriculture, food science, or animal science careers. It offers a mix of education, experience, and networking in a fun and engaging format.
Students interested in applying are encouraged to visit the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s website for full details and registration information. Early applications are recommended due to limited space and high interest in the program.
