North Platte Hosts Beef Cattle Symposium

By Scout Nelson

Beef professionals from across the country will gather in North Platte, Nebraska, for the 2025 Applied Reproductive Strategies in Beef Cattle (ARSBC) Symposium, a leading national event focused on cattle reproduction and herd management.

Scheduled for September 17–18 at the D&N Event Center, the event brings together producers, researchers, and industry leaders to learn about the newest science-backed reproductive technologies and strategies. A pre-conference program on September 16 includes a seedstock panel discussion at TD Angus and a guided tour of the new Sustainable Beef Packing Plant in North Platte.

Attendees will gain insights from top university researchers and industry experts on topics such as estrous synchronization, AI techniques, embryo transfer, sexed semen use, bull fertility, biosecurity, and genetic selection for longevity and fertility.

“Our goal is to equip producers with the tools they need to make informed, cost-effective decisions that improve reproductive performance and long-term sustainability,” said Rick Funston, a reproductive physiologist with Nebraska Extension.

The two-day event includes panel discussions and presentations from well-known professionals like Matt Spangler, Jordan Thomas, Mario Binelli, Ky Pohler, and Pedro Fontes. They will represent universities, AI companies, and genetic services. Companies such as ABS Global, Select Sires, and Genex will also join in panel sessions.

This symposium offers a chance to connect with others in the beef sector while staying up to date on the latest tools and research to boost herd productivity.
