Nebraska wheat and alfalfa producers will have a valuable opportunity to improve their management practices at the 2025 Southeast Nebraska Alfalfa and Wheat Expo. The event takes place Friday, September 19, at the Saline County Fairground in Crete.
The expo, hosted by Nebraska Extension and local sponsors, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is free for attendees. Farmers can attend the entire day or select sessions that best fit their interests. University specialists and industry experts will lead the discussions, focusing on practical strategies to improve crop productivity.
Morning sessions will highlight wheat production, with presentations on equipment, production challenges, the wheat green bridge, and disease management. Additional talks will cover pesticide safety and achieving higher yields in southeast Nebraska.
The afternoon will shift to alfalfa, with sessions covering irrigation strategies, insect pressures, weed control, and general crop management. These topics aim to give producers practical knowledge to protect and strengthen their alfalfa stands.
In addition to learning sessions, the expo provides time for networking with peers, visiting exhibitor booths, and engaging with event sponsors. Lunch is included for those who register by September 15, though walk-ins are welcome.
