The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center for Agricultural Profitability is set to host two vital virtual workshops aimed at assisting landowners, particularly those who have inherited agricultural land.
Scheduled for March 27 and March 28, 2024, these sessions are designed to delve into crucial aspects of agricultural land management and leasing for the upcoming year.
Jim Jansen and Anastasia Meyer, extension agricultural economists with the center, will lead the presentations. They will share insights on current trends in land values and cash rents, outline strategies for smooth land transitions, discuss important lease provisions, and navigate legal considerations.
The workshops will also address how to manage communication and expectations among family members involved in land inheritance and estate planning.
The first workshop, targeting landowners in central and western Nebraska, will take place from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Central time on March 27. The following day, March 28, will cater to those in eastern Nebraska, with the workshop running from noon to 2:30 p.m. Central time.
Although each session is tailored to specific regions, the core information will benefit all attendees. Materials for the presentation will be made available both in physical form, mailed to participants, and online.
Held on Zoom, these workshops offer a free educational opportunity for those involved in farm inheritance and land management. Interested individuals must register to attend.
These sessions are part of the center's ongoing effort to provide valuable information to landowners and tenants in the agricultural sector, ensuring informed decision-making and successful land management strategies.
