Nebraska cattle producers and their families are gearing up for an exciting event - the Certified Angus Beef’s Nebraska BQA (Beef Quality Assurance) Workshop. Set for Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024, this event promises a blend of education and inspiration, held at the scenic Ball Room at Round the Bend Steakhouse in Ashland.
A special highlight of the workshop is the keynote address by Nebraska Volleyball coach John Cook. His presence adds a unique touch, bridging the world of athletics and agriculture.
The day starts with optional Youth Quality Care for Animals (YQCA) training at 10 a.m., a crucial program for young agricultural enthusiasts. This training is essential for youth participating in Nebraska 4H and FFA with interests in various livestock.
The workshop, commencing at 11 a.m., will be packed with expert speakers, offering insights into producing top-quality, safe, and wholesome beef products. Lunch is included, offering a chance for networking and discussion.
Jesse Fulton, director of Nebraska BQA, emphasizes the value of the science-based information to be shared at the event. Even for those already BQA certified, the workshop offers an opportunity for recertification or to maintain their current knowledge.
The event wraps up at 3:15 p.m. with closing remarks from Cook, followed by a meet-and-greet session with UNL volleyball players. Participation in the BQA workshops is a prerequisite for attending these closing activities.
For registration and more information, producers can visit UNL’s event page or call 308-632-1230.
This event is a result of the collaboration between Certified Angus Beef (CAB) and Sysco, underlining their commitment to cattle care and quality beef production. The “Raised with Respect™” campaign, a CAB and Sysco initiative from 2023, reinforces this commitment.
Bruce Cobb, CAB's executive vice president of production, highlights BQA's role in strengthening the beef supply chain by fostering trust among consumers and industry players.
This workshop is more than an event; it's an opportunity for Nebraska's agricultural community to come together, learn, and grow.
