Nebraska Public Media invites the public to attend a live episode of Backyard Farmer at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island on Monday, Aug. 25. The event will take place in the Raising Nebraska Building, starting with a question-and-answer panel at 4:15 p.m. CT, followed by the live recording at 5 p.m. CT. The event is free to attend.
The popular show, hosted by Kim Todd, Nebraska Extension landscape horticulture specialist, will feature a panel of experts who will share valuable insights into garden and lawn care. Attendees will have the chance to ask questions and engage with the experts on a variety of horticultural topics.
The panel will include Nebraska Extension experts such as Kaitlin Chapman, urban entomology educator; Terri James, agronomy and horticulture educator; Amy Timmerman, cropping systems educator; and Elizabeth Exstrom, horticulture, landscape, and environmental systems educator.
A special segment will focus on turfgrass renovations at the Husker practice field. This segment will highlight the collaboration between Extension’s turfgrass department and athletic field managers as they work to install new turfgrass on the practice field.
The Backyard Farmer program, which is the longest-running locally produced television series in the U.S., will air on Nebraska Public Media at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Aug. 28. The program will be available for repeat viewings on Saturdays at 10 a.m. CT, Sundays at 4 p.m. CT, and Mondays at 5 p.m. CT on Create.
Backyard Farmer is a joint production of Nebraska Public Media and Nebraska Extension, bringing expert advice on gardening, horticulture, and lawn care to viewers across the region.
