Nebraska Corn Board launches ethanol pump grants

Nebraska Corn Board launches ethanol pump grants

By Scout Nelson

The Nebraska Corn Board (NCB) has announced the opening of applications for its Blender Pump Grant Program, a new initiative designed to foster the growth of ethanol infrastructure within the state.

This program, which officially began earlier this week, is part of a broader effort to promote higher ethanol blends such as E15, E30, and E85, which can significantly increase the demand for corn produced in Nebraska.

According to Payton Schaneman, the director of market development for the NCB, this grant offers a substantial opportunity for Nebraska’s corn growers to directly impact and enhance the state’s ethanol infrastructure.

“By broadening the availability of higher ethanol blends, we not only support our corn farmers but also provide consumers more fuel options that are cost-effective and environmentally friendly,” Schaneman stated.

Retail fuel providers interested in diversifying their fuel offerings are encouraged to apply. The NCB is providing up to $50,000 in financial assistance to eligible retailers who wish to install or upgrade their equipment to dispense higher blends of ethanol.

The initiative is aimed at increasing consumer access to alternative fuels while supporting agricultural stakeholders within the state.

Applications for the Blender Pump Grant Program are due by 5:00 pm on September 27, 2024. Retailers looking for more details on the program or the application process can find additional information and resources on the Nebraska Corn Board’s website under the ethanol section.

This effort underscores the Board’s commitment to enhancing Nebraska's energy and agricultural sectors through strategic investments in sustainable infrastructure.
