Nebraska farmers get certified wheat from Millborn

By Scout Nelson

Millborn, an independently owned seed company with over 37 years of experience, is offering Nebraska farmers certified winter wheat and triticale varieties this fall. With seed production facilities in Imperial and Hemingford, Nebraska, Millborn will provide trusted hard red and white winter wheat varieties from AgriPro®, WestBred®, and PlainsGold®.

As a well-known name in the seed industry, Millborn is excited to supply high-quality, locally grown wheat to farmers and ranchers. Renovo Seed Sales Account Manager Matt Metzger states, “Farmers and ranchers need products they can count on. That’s why we’re excited to offer high-quality wheat that’s grown and processed right here in Nebraska.”

Millborn, headquartered in South Dakota, has developed an efficient seed supply chain across North America. The acquisition of Prairie Sky Seeds in Hemingford and Luhrs Certified Seed in Imperial has expanded their presence in the western plains, offering diverse seed options to farmers and ranchers.

Tom Luhrs, former owner of Luhrs Certified Seed, now part of Millborn, shares his enthusiasm for the upcoming wheat season. “I’m excited to see Millborn continue the great service and wheat expertise that my team always worked for in Imperial. We’re growing, cleaning, and packaging the wheat right here in Nebraska, so customers can trust that the quality of wheat they’re getting from Millborn is top tier,” says Luhrs.

In addition to hard white winter wheat varieties, many of which qualify for the Ardent Mills Ultragrain program, Millborn also offers triticale varieties and other cool season crops from Renovo Seed. This in-house brand provides proven seed mixes for forage, cover crops, small grains, and conservation purposes.

Millborn’s commitment to providing high-quality seeds ensures that Nebraska farmers have access to reliable, locally grown products that meet their needs.
