Nebraska Drone Event Brings Industry Leaders

By Scout Nelson

Nebraska Extension and Northeast Community College in Norfolk are set to host the third annual Nebraska Agriculture and Spray Drone Conference on August 21-22, 2025. This event stands as the largest agriculture drone-focused conference in the Midwest, aiming to bring together leaders, researchers, legal experts, and drone innovators for two days of learning and collaboration.

“Nebraska Extension has long been a leader in drone education, hosting seven statewide events since August 2023 featuring internationally recognized experts,” said Dirk Charlson, statewide Extension educator for digital agriculture.

The event will feature returning experts including Steve Li from Auburn University, Julius Petri of Pix4D, Jonathan Rupprecht of Rupprecht Law, Al Brunner from the Federal Aviation Administration, and Kevin Knorr of Volitant Technologies.

Joining the conference for the first time are Nathan Stein of AirStrikeAg, Tim Pearson of Taranis, Vaughn Tolbert of VT Insurance, and Joel Jones of Orange Coast College. Their involvement promises to bring fresh insights into drone technology and its applications in agriculture.

New this year, attendees have the option to join remotely, making the conference more accessible. In addition, the first 75 people who register in-person on the opening day will receive a free copy of The Evolution of Spray Drones, Their Capabilities and Challenges for Pesticide Applications from Purdue University.

The Nebraska Agriculture and Spray Drone Conference continues to offer a platform for exploring advancements in drone use for agriculture, pesticide application, and regulatory developments. With hands-on sessions, expert talks, and networking opportunities, this event remains a key date for those interested in digital agriculture and drone innovation.

The conference reflects Nebraska Extension’s ongoing leadership in promoting education and practical solutions for the future of farming.
