Nebraska’s crop progress update for the week ending July 14, 2025, highlights steady fieldwork supported by warm, dry weather. The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reports an average of 5.0 days suitable for fieldwork, though key crops remain behind both last year and the five-year average in development.
Soil moisture remains steady, with topsoil moisture rated 6% very short, 26% short, 60% adequate, and 8% surplus. Subsoil moisture conditions are similar at 10% very short, 33% short, 53% adequate, and 4% surplus.
Corn silk reached 27%, behind 45% last year and the 32% average. Corn at the dough stage is 5%, slightly behind 7% last year but above the 2% average. The condition of corn is reported at 1% very poor, 3% poor, 19% fair, 56% good, and 21% excellent.
Soybean blooming stands at 40%, below 69% from last year and the 58% average. Pod setting is at 9%, falling behind 20% last year and the 15% average. Soybean condition rates are 1% very poor, 3% poor, 25% fair, 56% good, and 15% excellent.
Sorghum shows better progress, with 12% headed, ahead of both last year’s 7% and the five-year average of 7%. Sorghum condition is rated 1% very poor, 2% poor, 19% fair, 53% good, and 25% excellent.
The winter wheat harvest stands at 35%, behind 64% last year and the 43% average.
Oats are nearly fully headed at 95%, just short of last year’s 98% and the 99% average. Oat harvest reached 32%, ahead of last year’s 31% and the 21% average. The condition of oats is 7% very poor, 9% poor, 45% fair, 35% good, and 4% excellent.
Dry edible beans rate 0% very poor, 0% poor, 39% fair, 56% good, and 5% excellent.
Pasture and range conditions are mixed at 10% very poor, 27% poor, 39% fair, 22% good, and 2% excellent.
Nebraska’s crops show varying development, with moisture conditions supporting cautious optimism.
