Leaders in agriculture and education were recognized at the Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement banquet held on March 27 at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The event celebrates individuals who make lasting contributions to agriculture and rural communities across the state.
David Briggs and Ronnie Green receive top honors for their strong leadership and service. Briggs serves as president and CEO of Western Cooperative Company and CEO of Sustainable Beef. Green serves as chancellor emeritus of the university and is widely respected in agricultural research and education.
“The Nebraska Hall of Agricultural Achievement exists to recognize individuals whose leadership and dedication have advanced agriculture for the benefit of our state and beyond,” said Mark Gustafson, president of the organization.
Briggs has led WESTCO since 2000 and helps grow it into a strong and diverse cooperative serving producers in western Nebraska and eastern Wyoming. The company expands to 17 locations and employs more than 200 people. As CEO of Sustainable Beef in North Platte, he supports the development of a $400 million beef processing facility that begins operations in 2025. This project improves market access and creates new opportunities for producers.
Green serves as the university’s 20th chancellor from 2016 to 2023. He also leads the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources as Harlan Vice Chancellor. As an animal scientist, he contributes to research in animal breeding and genomics, supporting education and global engagement.
