September 19-20, 2023, promises to be an enlightening period for women in agriculture as Broken Bow, Nebraska, hosts the third annual Herd That! Conference. Organized by the Nebraska Women in Agriculture program in collaboration with the Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance Program, the event aims to bolster women's roles in livestock.
Jessica Groskopf, the lead at Nebraska Women in Agriculture, shared the event's essence, emphasizing the importance of livestock production to the state. She noted that the conference would furnish attendees with the crucial tools, knowledge, and networking opportunities they need in the livestock sector.
Participants can anticipate a rich program across the two days -
1. Day one features experiential learning stations at the Custer County Fairgrounds and an exclusive tour of Adams Land and Cattle, a major player headquartered in Broken Bow. The day concludes with a dinner at Kinkaider Brewing.
2. Day two shifts to the One Box Convention Center, where Calli Thorne, a multi-faceted entrepreneur with deep roots in agriculture, will captivate as the keynote speaker. The afternoon promises a treat, as renowned horseman Curt Pate demonstrates the art of horsemanship.
Having grown up on a ranch in North Dakota, Thorne now juggles several enterprises, including a feedlot and beef retail business. On the other hand, Pate, with a decade of experience, is a respected figure in stockmanship. He's known for his low-stress animal handling techniques, a sentiment echoed by Jesse Fulton, the director of Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance.
Those eager to be part of this enriching experience can now register on the Nebraska Women in Agriculture website. An early bird offer at $125 is up for grabs until September 6.
