Tractor supply boosts veteran farm with $1,000 grant

By Scout Nelson

Tractor Supply Company, America's premier rural lifestyle retailer, continues its mission to support veteran farmers by partnering with the Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC). This collaboration recently resulted in Gustavo Leigh of Neligh, Nebraska, receiving a $1,000 grant to aid his farm business, NE-Leigh Farm, LLC.

This grant is a component of a broader initiative where Tractor Supply contributes to the FVC Fellowship Fund. In total, $100,000 has been committed by Tractor Supply to assist veterans embarking on agricultural careers, with Leigh being one of fifty nationwide recipients. Each veteran received a Tractor Supply gift card crucial for purchasing essential farming supplies.

Marti Skold-Jordan, manager at the Tractor Supply Company Foundation, expressed the company's dedication, "Agriculture offers a sense of purpose and opportunity ideally suited for veterans beginning new careers. Through our donation to the Farmer Veteran Fellowship Fund, Tractor Supply is honored to support these new farmers by providing them with the supplies, equipment and materials that are critical to their success."

NE-Leigh Farm specializes in a farm-to-table operation that includes chickens, eggs, pigs, turkeys, and cows. The farm is committed to regenerative agricultural practices that enhance soil, water, and grass quality, thus ensuring high-quality livestock.

The recent grant will help the farm expand its operations, acquire new equipment, and enhance pasture biodiversity.

Over the past six years, Tractor Supply's partnership with FVC has resulted in over $550,000 donated, aiding more than 350 veteran farmers across the country. This ongoing support plays a vital role in helping veterans like Leigh establish and grow their farming operations.
