Nebraska’s Farm Service Agency is calling on all agricultural producers to make appointments to file their crop acreage reports as the July 15 deadline approaches.
This annual requirement is crucial for farmers planting spring crops, managing perennial forages, or participating in the Conservation Reserve Program.
Tim Divis, acting FSA state executive director, emphasized the necessity of these reports. "Filing an accurate and timely acreage report for all crops and land uses, including failed acreage, can prevent the loss of benefits," Divis noted. He also highlighted the importance of reporting any acreage that was intended for planting but remained unplanted due to natural disasters.
These should be promptly reported using form CCC-576, Notice of Loss, within 15 days following the final planting date.
For those with Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program coverage, it is important to note that the acreage reporting date may be the earlier of July 15 or 15 days before the commencement of grazing or harvesting.
The process of filing acreage reports is not only a regulatory requirement but also a critical element in ensuring that farmers continue to receive the support and benefits necessary for their operations.
With the deadline fast approaching, Nebraska producers are urged to complete their reports promptly to avoid potential penalties and ensure continuous support from the USDA and other agricultural programs.
