The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center for Agricultural Profitability is set to launch an insightful workshop series titled 'Returning to the Farm. ' This initiative, originally planned for December 2023, is now rescheduled to commence with a two-day session in Kearney, Nebraska. It targets multi-generational farm families undergoing transitions in ownership and management.
The workshop, taking place at the Nebraska Extension office in Buffalo County on March 8 and 9, is specifically designed to cater to the needs of families integrating newer generations into their agricultural operations. A core objective of the program is to equip these families with tailored financial plans and effective working arrangements.
Participants will gain valuable insights from extension educators like Jessica Groskopf and other professionals in agribusiness and legal sectors. The curriculum is comprehensive, covering vital areas such as:
- Learning effective communication strategies
- Setting personal and professional objectives
- Crafting a detailed farm or ranch transition plan
- Addressing estate planning intricacies
- Evaluating financial feasibility with practical tools
The workshop, priced at $75 per person before March 1 and $85 thereafter, includes meals on both days and access to two subsequent virtual workshops. Note that lodging is not covered in this fee.
For interested parties, registration details are available at UNL's CAP website. This workshop is part of a project supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, under agreement number FSA22CPT0012189, reflecting its commitment to supporting agricultural families in transition.
