The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has launched a new round of disaster assistance through the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP). This program is designed to help farmers who experienced crop damage or loss from natural disasters in 2023 or 2024.
Applications for this financial help will be accepted as of Thursday, July 10. Farmers must apply through their local Farm Service Agency (FSA) office. In order to simplify the process, USDA is mailing pre-filled application forms directly to producers who may qualify.
This relief comes at a crucial time as many areas across the U.S. continue to face weather extremes, including droughts, floods, and storms. The SDRP aims to help farmers recover their losses, protect their operations, and keep producing the food the country depends on.
Eligible farmers must have suffered losses due to disaster conditions and follow program guidelines to qualify. Information about who is eligible and how to apply is available on the USDA’s SDRP webpage or by contacting local FSA offices.
The USDA encourages all affected farmers to review the mailed forms carefully, confirm their details, and complete their applications as soon as possible. Local FSA staff are available to help with any questions or paperwork.
