Nebraska farmers invited to on-farm research updates
Nebraska Ag Connection - 02/12/2024

The Nebraska On-Farm Research Network (NOFRN) is set to host its 2024 Annual Results Update meetings this February, inviting Nebraska's farming community to engage with the latest agricultural research findings.

These meetings serve as a platform for farmers and agronomists to learn from the 2023 on-farm research studies that span topics such as crop production, fertility, soil management, cover crops, and more, directly impacting Nebraska's agricultural landscape.

Laura Thompson, an extension educator and the director of on-farm research, highlights the importance of these meetings for growers seeking to gain insights from research conducted in diverse environments across the state.

The 2023 studies featured key projects on innovative agricultural products and strategies, including Pivot Bio Proven40, direct harvest of dry edible beans, and effective control strategies for western corn rootworm, among others.

Scheduled to take place at various locations, the meetings kick off on February 20 at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center near Mead, followed by additional sessions in Beatrice, Alliance, York, and Kearney.

Starting at 9 a.m. local time, each meeting will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of the research conducted during the previous growing season, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and innovation.

Attendance is complimentary, but registration is required to ensure a well-organized event. Participants will receive the 2023 Research Results book, a valuable resource summarizing over 80 studies from the past year, enhancing their understanding of practical and actionable farming improvements.

For those interested in attending the 2024 Annual Results Update meetings, registration details can be found by contacting Taylor Lexow or visiting the NOFRN website. These meetings not only offer an opportunity to stay abreast of the latest agricultural research but also enable farmers to connect, share experiences, and discuss future farming advancements.

This initiative by the NOFRN underscores its commitment to advancing agricultural practices through research and education, reinforcing the network's role as a crucial resource for Nebraska's agricultural community.
