The Nebraska Bumble Bee Atlas is a statewide community science project aimed at tracking and conserving Nebraska's native bumble bees. It is supported by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and The Nebraska Environmental Trust as part of a community science initiative.
Community science means anyone can get involved in this pollinator conservation effort. As a part of the initiative, it offers full-day educational workshops that will provide people with the knowledge and confidence to participate.
Explore its website to learn about the purpose and project design of the Atlas.
Once you're ready to get involved, check out the requirements, learn how to adopt a grid cell and find out what events are happening near you.
For example, past field days have been hosted at Glacier Creek Preserve near Omaha, Spring Creek Prairie Audubon near Lincoln, as well in Central and Western Nebraska. Just go to https://bit.ly/3P7fe3a to find out more.
