Nebraska Extension announces a series of Beef Update meetings combined with private pesticide certification opportunities in January. These meetings support beef producers and agriculture professionals who want to stay informed while earning required certifications.
The meetings are held at three locations across Nebraska and include beef management, pasture health, pest control, and beef quality assurance training.
Valentine
Wednesday, Jan. 14 – Begins 10 a.m.
Mid-Plains Community College, Valentine
Topics include herbicide strategies for eastern red cedar control, pasture plant diversity, Beef Quality Assurance initial and recertification training, private pesticide certification, grasshopper population assessment, Asian longhorned tick, and New World screwworm.
Stuart
Monday, Jan. 19 – Begins 10 a.m.
Auditorium, Stuart
Topics include herbicide strategies for cedar management, pasture diversity, cow body condition in the Nebraska Sandhills, Beef Quality Assurance continuing education, private pesticide certification, grasshopper population assessment, Asian longhorned tick, and New World screwworm.
Brewster
Friday, Jan. 23 – Begins 11 a.m.
Uncle Buck’s, Brewster
Topics include Beef Quality Assurance initial and recertification, information on New World screwworm and Asian longhorned tick, and private pesticide certification.
Private pesticide certification, including initial and recertification, costs $60. Beef Quality Assurance certification costs $20 per person, or a flat $100 for operations bringing five or more participants. Pre-registration is encouraged for those planning to attend Beef Quality Assurance training.
