Nebraska's agricultural sector saw a busy week, with 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork as shared by the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
Diving into the soil's wellness, topsoil moisture was categorized as 20% very short, 29% short, 47% being just right, and a 4% surplus. Subsoil followed suit with 27% being very short, 35% short, 36% adequate, and a 2% smaller surplus.
Exploring the Field Crops Report, the corn harvest stood at 76%. This figure is close to last year's 78% but exceeds the five-year average of 65%. Soybeans weren't far behind with a 92% harvest rate, closely mimicking the previous year's 96% and hovering around the general 90% average.
In terms of winter wheat, conditions varied from 6% being very poor, 15% poor, 38% being fair, 32% good, and 9% in excellent shape. 95% of winter wheat has emerged, which is slightly ahead of last year's 93% and the general 90% average.
Other notable figures include sorghum's 69% harvest rate and the dry edible beans with a commendable 97% harvest rate.
Lastly, when examining pastures, the report was optimistic. With the majority labeled as 'good', pastures showed 6% very poor, 11% poor, 32% fair, and 11% excellent.
