Spring Weather Outlook - Nebraska Farmer’s Key Updates

Spring Weather Outlook - Nebraska Farmer’s Key Updates

By Scout Nelson

As winter transitions into spring, farmers and agricultural professionals are keeping a close eye on changing weather patterns. University of Nebraska-Lincoln Meteorologist and Climate Resiliency Extension Educator Eric Hunt will provide an update on these conditions in the upcoming Second Tuesday at 9 webinar.

This free Nebraska Extension program, scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, at 9 a.m., will offer valuable insights into soil moisture levels, storm activity, and potential planting delays.

Hunt’s discussion will include a review of recent precipitation and its effects on soil moisture, helping growers assess field readiness.

Hunt will also provide storm tracking updates for mid-March and discuss the possibility of weather-related planting disruptions this spring.

Additionally, Hunt will share forecasts from the Climate Prediction Center, outlining temperature and precipitation expectations for the upcoming spring and summer seasons.

Farmers will also gain insights into seasonal drought risks across the Midwest and challenges Nebraska irrigators may face in the growing season ahead.

Participants can register online to attend this informative session. For more details, contact Eric Hunt, Assistant Extension Educator, at (402) 617-4190 or via email at ehunt2@unl.edu.
