Nebraska corn farmer joins USGC Board

By Scout Nelson

At the recent U.S. Grains Council (USGC) Board of Delegates Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, Jay Reiners, a seasoned Nebraska corn and soybean farmer, was elected as the new secretary/treasurer. Reiners, who has been actively involved with USGC for many years, expressed his honor and excitement about contributing more significantly to the organization's mission.

From his farm near Juanita, Nebraska, Reiners has been a steadfast advocate for agricultural trade, recognizing its importance for American farmers. His commitment to agriculture extends beyond his farm as he also serves as the chairman of the Nebraska Corn Board and holds various leadership roles at both state and national levels.

Reiners’ election to this important role underscores his leadership qualities and his passion for advancing the agricultural industry. His new position will involve overseeing financial matters and strategic planning for USGC, which plays a crucial role in promoting U.S. grain and agricultural products globally.

Kelly Brunkhorst, the executive director of the Nebraska Corn Board, commended Reiners' election, noting it as a testament to his dedication and leadership. According to Brunkhorst, having a Nebraskan in a key position within USGC is not only a personal achievement for Reiners but also a significant benefit for farmers across Nebraska and the United States.

This leadership change promises to continue USGC's robust efforts in facilitating global trade, which is vital for the growth and sustainability of the U.S. agricultural sector. Reiners’ deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities in agriculture will be invaluable in his role at USGC.
