The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation recently awarded 20 teachers across Nebraska with the Dr. Allen G. and Kay L. Blezek Teacher Retention Award, providing funds to support agricultural education and FFA programs. The award is designed to help teachers in their first through fifth year of teaching as they build impactful programs in their classrooms and communities.
“This award is an investment in the future of Nebraska agriculture,” said Megahn Schafer, executive director of the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation. As schools expand their agricultural programs and more students engage in FFA, the foundation sees a clear return on its investment.
The award, renamed in recognition of a generous estate gift from Dr. Allen Blezek, honors his legacy in agricultural education. Recipients are recognized for their service in advancing agricultural education and supporting Nebraska’s top industry.
The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation works to engage youth, educators, and the public in understanding the importance of agriculture. By supporting these teachers, the foundation contributes to the growth of FFA programs and strengthens agricultural education across the state.
Twenty teachers from various counties in Nebraska received the award this year, with each award growing over time to match the increasing impact these educators have on their students and communities. The foundation remains committed to promoting agricultural education and supporting the future of Nebraska agriculture.
