The USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service provided an update on Nebraska's agricultural status for the week ending November 12, 2023.
Farmers in Nebraska had 6. 8 days suitable for fieldwork. Topsoil moisture levels were mostly short, with no surplus reported. Subsoil moisture also reflected similar constraints, indicating potential challenges for crop sustenance and growth.
The state achieved a 91% corn harvest rate, closely aligning with last year's 94% and surpassing the five-year average of 86%. This demonstrates a consistent and robust harvest trend for corn in Nebraska.
Winter wheat showed a varied condition, with a significant portion rated fair to good, and a smaller percentage in very poor to excellent categories. This diversity in condition suggests variable growth patterns across different regions.
The Sorghum harvest was at 90%, almost mirroring last year's 92% and slightly above the average of 88%. This indicates a steady production rate for sorghum in the state.
The pasture and range conditions were mostly fair to good, with a small fraction in the very poor to excellent range. This points to moderately favorable conditions for livestock grazing.
