During the week ending November 26, 2023, Nebraska experienced 5.1 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. The state's agricultural conditions showed a range of moisture levels and crop statuses.
Topsoil moisture supplies were varied, with 21% rated very short, 26% short, 50% adequate, and 3% surplus. Subsoil moisture also displayed a broad spectrum, with 26% very short, 37% short, 34% adequate, and 3% surplus.
In the Field Crops Report, winter wheat conditions were promising, with 40% rated good and 9% excellent. However, 3% of the wheat was rated very poor, and 11% poor. This indicates a diverse range of conditions affecting the wheat crops.
The Pasture and Range Report showed that pasture and range conditions were similarly varied. The conditions were rated 12% very poor, 16% poor, 34% fair, 28% good, and 10% excellent.
This comprehensive report provides a snapshot of the current state of Nebraska's agricultural sector, reflecting the challenges and successes faced by farmers in managing crops and soil health as the year comes to a close.
