The Nebraska State Fair, a longstanding tradition older than the state itself, is where young Nebraskans showcase their agricultural roots and hard work.
The Nebraska State Fair 1868 Foundation plays a crucial role in this event by supporting youth participants in 4-H and FFA with divisional awards for livestock presentations.
The foundation is currently focused on increasing funding for these awards, aiming to secure an additional $120,000 for youth premiums.
Lindsey Koepke, the Executive Director of the 1868 Foundation, expressed the need for this initiative, stating, "We've observed that our youth participants are looking to other state fairs that offer higher premiums. We want our young people to know we believe in their efforts and understand that financial support can significantly impact their experiences."
The foundation encourages community members to contribute to these young agriculturists through the 1868 Foundation's main giving page.
Donations directly assist the participants by helping cover their expenses and providing them with awards such as banners and buckles, which are symbols of their hard work and success.
The Nebraska State Fair has been a crucial part of the state's culture and history for over 155 years, attracting nearly 4 million visitors since relocating to Grand Island in 2010.
From showcasing livestock to celebrating community, the fair continues to be a hub of educational and family-oriented activities, connecting Nebraskans from all corners of the state.
